Unfit for Command

By davidjeffers | June 26, 2008

Barack Obama desires to be our next president. One of the most important jobs of the US President is that of Commander-in-Chief.  Senator Obama would have the American voter believe he is the right man for the job.  Nothing could be further from the truth.

A cursory look at Obama’s website and plan for the war in Iraq one discovers a naïve approach, if he is to be taken seriously, to dealing with totalitarian regimes.  Not only is there a naiveté but also a dangerous void in recognizing real evil and identifying obvious threats. A look at this website shows his party recognized both for a four year period (1998-2002).

Senator Obama is proud of the fact that if he had his way, Iraq would still be under the control of Saddam Hussein and his two psychotic sons Uday and Qusay.  In Clinton, Iowa on September 12, 2007 Senator Barack Obama said, “I spoke out against what I called ‘a rash war’ in Iraq.” Ironically that was one week before my son was killed in Iraq. Here’s what Eddie had to say about the war in Iraq in his article “Freedom Feels Good”:

Part of me doesn’t care what happens to this God-forsaken city after I leave it…as long as “me and my boys” make it out in one piece.

But that is the viewpoint of a man who wishes his actions to be in vain. I do not. I have lost very close friends over here. I don’t want their lives to have been given in vain. Simply put, we are fighters. We are all in the same place for various reasons, for me, it’s personal. I am in a modern day crusade to exterminate evil. People whose atrocities I cannot even begin to name cannot be allowed to exist among us. As long as these people are here, everything that is just and good is at risk.

What Eddie wrote is completely contrary to what Obama plans to do if elected:

Obama will immediately begin to remove our troops from Iraq. He will remove one to two combat brigades each month, and have all of our combat brigades out of Iraq within 16 months. Obama will make it clear that we will not build any permanent bases in Iraq. He will keep some troops in Iraq to protect our embassy and diplomats; if al Qaeda attempts to build a base within Iraq, he will keep troops in Iraq or elsewhere in the region to carry out targeted strikes on al Qaeda. (From BarackObama.com)

How is it that a twenty-three year old infantry sergeant has more wisdom than a forty-seven year old US Senator desiring to be president? Does Obama really not know that setting a time line for withdrawal with actual troop movement plans is not only foolhardy but emboldens our enemy? Obama promises to keep troops in Iraq if al Qaeda “attempts to build a base within Iraq.”

Let’s see…I’m the leader of al Qaeda in Iraq and if this new president is elected, I just have to keep my nose clean until May 2010 and I can retake Iraq. This is pure madness! Obama believes that he can just talk with our enemies and they will suddenly see the light and say yes Mr. President, we’re going to end our totalitarian ways and join you. If the safety of the western world was not at stake this would be laughable.

It is sad to think a man like this can even be considered to run the most powerful country in the world. I would rather have Jimmy Carter back than have Barack Obama and I would without hesitation vote for Hillary Clinton over Obama with great resolve.

I want all of the Talon readers to hit the link above to Obama’s website and I want all of you to carefully, carefully read what he has to say.

Just like the 2004 Democratic Presidential candidate, Barack Obama is unfit for command.
