The Forgotten War

By davidjeffers | October 30, 2008

It’s been eight weeks since I last posted here and I thank all of you for your patience as I was completing my Masters of Arts program.  Glory to God I have met the requirements of Liberty Baptist Theological Seminary (of Liberty University) and will be receiving my Master of Arts in Theological Studies.

So much has gone on in the last two months that I could spend the next 4 weeks trying to catch up.  My family had a wonderful celebration banquet on the anniversary of my son Sergeant Eddie Jeffers’ death, where we raised $500 in his name for the Fisher House Foundation.

We are obviously staring down the last few hours before we elect a new president and I am currently working on an article explaining why I am supporting John McCain for President.

But from the title of this post you can tell that something else is on my mind.  I am not talking about the original forgotten war, the Korean War, although it deserves constant reminding of the great sacrifices our wonderful veterans made during that conflict.

No, I’m talking about the Iraq War, Operation Iraqi Freedom.  My last post here was titled “Appreciating Anbar” and I wrote of how the Anbar Province had been turned over to the Iraqis with very little fanfare and zero congratulations from the Democratic Party leadership.

Well, something once again magnificent happened in Iraq today and although it did make the news, it also received very little fanfare.  The southern province of Wasit in Iraq was handed over to Iraqi control, making it the 13th province out of 18 total to be taken over by the Iraqi authorities.  This means that Iraq has control of the southern part of its country.

This is just more evidence of the surge working.  And for those of you who believe there is no difference between Barack Obama and John McCain, let us revisit some telling video, shall we?

Folks, as Rosemary posted here last week in “Global War Continues In Silence” we are still at war with Isalmo-fascists who are intent on killing us. The subprime lending mess and the fluctuating gas prices will pale in comparison to another terrorist attack on our soil.

As much as people what to castigate President Bush he has kept us safe these last seven years. The need to keep us safe will not decrease with a new president, in fact Joe Biden was right, Barack Obama would probably be tested by terrorists, just to see how he would react.

Any confusion on what John McCain would do?
